Sam is full of surprises
You never know what he will bring to the stage
Worldwide renowned drummer/singer-Sam Lay is noted as the oldest living blues musician of this time & is one of the most celebrated virtuoso drummers in blues history & has been a pillar in the industry since the late 1950's.
He was the founding drummer for Howlin' Wolf as well as for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band & notably the drummer for the Original Thunderbirds.
Likewise, he recorded & toured with Bob Dylan, had his own band & worked with such esteemed artists including Little Walter, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Eddie Taylor, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells, Bo Diddley, Magic Sam, Jimmy Rogers, Earl Hooker, and Muddy Waters & a plethora of other esteemed performers.
He has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, the Jazz Hall of Fame & the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Sam has been a recording artist on Chess & Alligator among others.
His unique style of drumming can be heard on over 40 recordings for the famed Chess Records label with the most notorious names in the world of blues.
Sam Lay was prominently featured on a PBS-TV broadcast of 7 episodes on the "History of the Blues" produced by Academy Award winning director, Martin Scorsese.
Most recently has toured
with Siegel Schwall & also the Chicago Blues Reunion. Sam is one of the original Blues forefathers who opened the doors for others to follow & now in his 80's continues to shake the stages…
